Houstonians have big hearts. The best example is the Annual Houston Humanitarian Awards. The award honors an individual or individuals for their efforts to make the City of Houston a better place to live by action, philanthropy, volunteerism or involvement. The Humanitarian Award was established and awarded for the first time following the 2014 Random Act of Kindness Day on July 25, proclaimed by former Mayor Annise Parker. It is considered one of the top honors bestowed by Houston’s council members, volunteers, philanthropists and organizations. The award celebration is hosted annually at Houston’s Royal Sonesta Hotel, hosted by Fox 26’s Isiah Carey and philanthropist and author Theresa Roemer.
